My name is Kacie Anderson and I am a junior Computer Science student.

For my entire life, I have had a keen interest in the overlap between technology and journalism – specifically, how the combination of Internet media platforms and free speech has affected thought, culture, politics and society on a global scale.

It is clear that my generation favors Reddit, Twitter, Tumblr and Comedy Central pundits over print and broadcast news, and I find this shift in attention to be fascinating and revolutionary on many different levels.

In 2011, I had the opportunity to attend the Internet Society’s 20th Anniversary conference in Geneva, during which one of the main topics of discussion was the social, political and economic benefits of the Internet (you can read my blog about it at http://www.kacieanderson.wordpress.com).
